GEHC Damselfly III

GEHC Damselfly III

Yesteday’s dragon fly damselfly was quite skittish, and just barely hung around long enough for me to snap any shots. This one though seemed to notice me shooting and flew in and landed right in front of me. The other one disappeared, but this one would stop and rest on the leaves for quite a bit before striking a post somewhere nearby.

Correction: this is a male Ebony Jewelwing damselfly (Calopteryx maculata) — Thanks, Chuck!

  1. Actually, it's a male Ebony Jewelwing damselfly (Calopteryx maculata), not a dragonfly. Great image, regardless of the name. Sometimes you can't get within 10' of them, other times they'll come in close and show off. Nice that this guy parked himself right in the sun with a clean background.
